Tawny Lee Raftery, 57, of Westfield, passed away April 16, 2019. She was born in Frankfort, IN on September 20, 1961, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Reid) Cory.
Tawny received her BSN degree from Indiana University. She was gifted and had such a heart for nursing. Tawny was employed at Riley Children’s Hospital in the NICU special care nursery, before her employment at Bayada Pediatrics. She also spent time in Labor and Delivery at Community North Hospital. Tawny enjoyed interacting with students during her time as a Professor at MedTech College. Through the years, many lives were touched as a result of the dedication Tawny so willingly gave.
Being a wife and mother was Tawny’s greatest joy in life. She was an amazing teacher, leader and mentor. Tawny was selfless in her giving to others and was a wonderful role model.
Tawny was a member of the American Nurses Association. While at Community Hospital, several times Tawny was honored in winning the Daisy Award, which was an award given by patients who had a meaningful pleasant experience during their hospital stay.
Tawny was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary Cory and Warrena Reid.
Survivors include her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Cory; husband, Scott Raftery; daughters, Kerry Raftery and Caitlin Raftery; son, Conor Raftery; brothers, Steve Cory, Brian Cory and Adam (Tammy) Cory.
Donations in memory of Tawny, may be directed to Riley Children’s Hospital for the Creekside Middle School Dance Marathon. Envelopes will be available at the service.
