Mary Miketchuk

Mary Miketchuk, 94, of Carmel, passed away quietly Tuesday, January 9, 2018.  She was born in DuQuoin, IL on September 26, 1923. 

Mary considered her home to be Chicago; even after she resided in Normal, IL for more than 53 years before relocating to the Indianapolis area in 2013.  Mary loved conversation and never knew a stranger.  Regardless of her surroundings or circumstances, she always had a word to share with whoever was in her presence.  Her unique character left a lasting impression and will be deeply missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Rose Licata; husband, Nick Miketchuk, twin sister, "Kay" Pekarek; brothers, Ben, John, Tom and Tony Licata.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Body and husband, Tom of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Robert Jeffrey Kirk and wife, Kelly of Summersville, SC and Michelle Abeln and husband, Clint of Athens, IL; great-granddaughter, Haley Abeln; sister-in-law, Lilly Licata and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 3:00 pm in Brookdale Senior Living, 301 Executive Drive, Carmel, IN 46032.

In memory of Mary, donations can be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN  46240.  Envelopes will be availabe at the service.
