Marcella Mae Gallet

September 23, 1930 ~ May 11, 2018 (age 87)

Marcella Outland Gallet, 87, of Lawrence, was called to her heavenly home while surrounded by family on May 11, 2018.  She was born in Indianapolis on September 23, 1930, daughter of Ernest E. and Martha Ruth Plummer Outland.

Marcella was a warm and friendly lady. She loved her Lord and truly cared about others.  Marcella was known for being a good cook.  She would spend hours canning and tending to her garden.  Marcella loved to listen to gospel music and especially enjoyed the old hymns.  Through the years, Marcella and Dennis traveled with the Best Years Fellowship (BYF) church group enjoying the fellowship as well as sightseeing.  Marcella became a very good bingo player and after a while, the joke became “she won again”.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family which included spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marcella will remain in the hearts of all who loved her dearly.

In addition to her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Jean Outland; grandson, Jason Pyland and Amel J. Arnold, her mother’s second husband.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 64 years, Dennis Gallet; children, Shelia (Bob) Pyland and Dennis L. (Tammy) Gallet; grandchildren, Bobby Pyland (Kristen Simons), Ruthie (Jon) Miller, Andrea (Mason) Odle, Bryan (Kelly) Gallet and Allison (Jeremy) Epp; great-grandchildren, Emma Miller, Lexi Odle, McKenzie Odle, Rylee Odle, Tyler Gallet, Noah Epp, Caden Epp, Andrew Epp; sisters, Mary (Duane) Cady and Becky (Don) Weidman; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 6-8:30 pm in Trinity Wesleyan Church where the funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 15 at 10:30 am with visitation one hour prior to service.  A Committal Service will follow in Washington Park East cemetery.
