Welcome to the memorial page for

Cerobia M. Heffernan

May 1, 1930

Cerobia Maie Heffernan was born May 1, 1930, and entered eternal life March 4, 2017. She was the second of three children. Preceding her in death were her two siblings and her husband, Grant.

Cerobia was raised on a small farm in the village of Altona, Michigan. After graduation from high school, she attended Sparrow School of Nursing, finishing her program in 1951. She began her nursing career in Stanwood, Michigan.

Having met through mutual family friends, Grant and Cerobia were married on January 3, 1954, and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage.

They have three children: Karen Heffernan, Gary (Faith) Heffernan, and Beth (Neal) Hoard. Grant and Cerobia have five grandchildren: Jason (Jennifer) Heffernan, Alyssa (Stephen) Smith, Marcella Hoard, Elliott Hoard, and Autumn (Marcus) Zahran. Her special joy in recent years was the arrival of her two great grandchildren; Jason Bryce and Adelyn Cerobia, son and daughter of Jason and Jennifer Heffernan.

Grant and Cerobia raised their family in Auburn Hills, Michigan, where Cerobia was employed as a pediatric nurse at Pontiac General Hospital. Cerobia later joined the pediatric practice of Doctors James and Dinger.

When the Heffernans retired to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, Cerobia enjoyed serving in their small church and working as a Hospice nurse in the community.

They later moved to Westfield, Indiana, to be near family.

Cerobia especially enjoyed taking care of others, teaching children, serving on mission boards, playing piano, knitting and reading. She gave her time and energy to her family, church and community. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and compassion for others. Her gentle servant's heart was a tribute to the Savior she loved.

In memory of Cerobia, donations can be given to Trinity Baptist Church - Missions Fund. Envelopes will be available at the service.
