Catherine Alice “Cate” Weglarz, age 5, of Westfield, went home to be with Jesus on January 20, 2019 following a very brief illness. She was born May 1, 2013, in Indianapolis, to two adoring parents who lovingly placed Cate in the care of her adoptive parents, Brian and Julie Weglarz, who cherished her every day.
Cate was a kindergarten student at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School and had previously attended Orchard Park Learning Center in Indianapolis. Most importantly, Cate was a child of God and entered into God’s family through Baptism on September 21, 2013. Her Godparents are Susan Doll and Melissa Hopp.
Cate was loving and kind and had a genuine heart. She was a good and loyal friend and quite silly once you got to know her. She enjoyed all crafts, the messier the better, and especially loved coloring, painting and face painting. Her favorite place to play was outside, pedaling her bike, jumping in the leaves, or swinging on the play set. Cate adored her dog Lenny and often would crawl into his crate to keep him company. Cate also loved music, dancing, baking, playing with her dolls and stuffed animals, and dressing up in her favorite color pink.
Cate was treasured by her family, immediate and extended, including her parents, Brian and Julie Weglarz; sisters, Sarah and Rachel Weglarz; grandparents, William and Joan Meer of Westfield, IN, Robert Weglarz of Smithville, TX, and Paula Weglarz of Palatine, IL; uncles and aunts, William and Stephanie Meer of Atlanta, GA, Jeff and Melissa Hopp of Westfield, IN, Thomas and Marcia Meer of Washington D.C., David and Jackie Meer of Westfield, IN, John and Susan Doll of Plain City, OH, and Tim and Sharon Filip of Lindenhurst, IL; cousins, Madeline and Kaitlyn Meer, Allie, Jason and Kayla Hopp, Riley and Noah Meer, John, Andrew, and Anna Doll, and Jacob and Alex Filip.
Cate’s family would like to express their appreciation to the teachers and staff at both St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church and School and Orchard Park Learning Center who showered Cate with love and helped form her relationship with Jesus. We would also like to thank family and friends who graciously supported and carried their family in so many ways.
Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4-7 pm in Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 17104 Springmill Road, Westfield, IN and again Saturday, January 26 from 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Park, Westfield, IN.
Family and friends are all welcome to join the family in celebrating Cate’s life at the Visitation, Mass, Burial as well as the luncheon at Saint Maria Goretti Church immediately following burial.
