Bridget Moore Obituary

Bridget Moore, 88, of Carmel IN, died peacefully, surrounded by family on February 4, 2019. She was born May 18th, 1930 in Shanballybaun, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, daughter of James and Bridget (Gilboy) Holland.

Bridget was the 5th of 9 siblings. After losing her mother at a young age, Bridget helped her father raise her younger siblings.

Bridget met the love of her life, Gordon Moore, in 1949, and together they traveled England caring for the sick at various health institutions. On March 4, 1957, they married and settled in Kirby Muxloe, Leicester, UK. As a testament to Bridget’s mettle, she immigrated to America with her husband, aboard the RMS Queen Elizabeth while seven months pregnant, with two small children, across the North Atlantic in October of 1962. Once there, they raised four wonderful children together.
Bridget devoted her life to the service of others through her nursing career. She particularly loved caring for the elderly. Upon her retirement, she continued caring for family, and especially loved helping to raise her grandchildren.

An avid gardener, Bridget enjoyed countless hours creating beautiful yards filled with stonework and colorful flowers. Her wit and humor brightened anyone’s day, and her playfulness was appreciated by her entire family, especially her grandchildren.

Bridget is survived by her husband, Gordon Moore; children, Stephen (Holly) Moore, James (Christine) Moore, Anne (Eric) Moeller, and Andrew (Dawn) Moore; grandchildren, Aurel Moore, Dexter Moore, Delaney Moore, Sydney Moore, Rutger Moeller, Bryce Moeller, Kyle Moeller and Bridget Moeller; siblings, John Holland, Christine Kozonasky, and Mary Nicholson; and many nieces and nephews.

Bridget’s final resting place will take place in Carmel Cemetery.
