Audrey Sutenbach

Audrey Lee Thomas Sutenbach 81 of Indianapolis was born to Clayton and Mabel Thomas on September 5 1928 on the southwest side of Chicago known as Ashburn. She attended Eberhart Branch and O'Toole Elementary Schools and then Harper High School Class of 1946 where she so enjoyed being involved in many activities and also found lifetime friends. Audrey always loved and had a passion for music. After high school she briefly attended the American Conservatory of Music to further train her beautiful operatic voice. A highlight in her life was singing a solo at Chicago's Orchestra Hall. Although she did not pursue a professional singing career she shared her talent most of her life in church choirs community choral groups weddings and funerals. She also created inspirational and fun musical programs traveling around the Chicago land area often performing for church and women's groups. Audrey was a member of the Methodist Church and served throughout her life on various committees as well as directing and participating in choirs and musical programs for many years. She had a gift for organizing and getting people together for luncheons whether it was the PTA women Hospice group friends high school and church reunions or the neighbor ladies. Audrey was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. where she met Edward her husband of 49 years who preceded her in death. Survivors include three children; Donald Margaret of Carol Stream IL Barbara Sutenbach Nichter Donald of Fishers IN and Paul Linda of Highland Park IL; three grandchildren Jodi Sutenbach Huntley Michael Heather and Ethan Nichter. Audrey was proud to be a Chicagoan for 80 years until her move to Indianapolis to be closer to her daughter who cared for her until her passing from multiple medical problems. She was greatly loved by many and will be deeply missed. Interment will take place in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on June 11 2010.
