Amy L. Huston

At the age of 96, Amy passed away while peacefully sleeping on December 6, 2018. She is cherished by her four surviving children: Robert Eugene Huston, Tyanne May Smock, Jeffrey Lee Huston, and Jeri Jay Huston. Amy was especially proud of her 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Amy enjoyed a 69-year marriage with her husband, Irvin Huston Jr. (now deceased), a WWII Navy veteran. They raised their children in Wabash, IN while running an HVAC company. As she did all of the “office” work for their business, she also found room to do lots of volunteer work: Civil Defense, Red Cross, and as an officer in Community Services through her church - Seventh-day Adventist. A favorite hobby of both of them was camping and enjoying God’s creation. They had visited all but eleven of the 50 United States. Amy loved writing cards and letters, doing ceramics, knitting, and crocheting, and sharing these gifts with others.

Amy wrote lots of poems (over 200) many of which were privately published and shared with her family and many friends. She said, “I guess if one word would describe me, it might be hospitality”, as she loved company.

Up to her very last day, she enjoyed witnessing to others of her Lord, sharing her faith and Christ’s promise of salvation.

Amy went completely blind late in 2016, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BOSMA – a local organization who helped her with the transition to blindness. Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 16, at 1:00pm at the Chapel West Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3819 S. Mann Road, Indianapolis, IN.
